The Government of India has started “Coir Udyami Yojana” to encourage rural youth to start small-scale industries. Under this scheme, the Central Government will provide a 40% grant to the coir industry. Coir Udyam Yojana Details:

The Government of India has launched this scheme to provide credit links subsidy. Through this scheme, the government will provide a 40% subsidy for the establishment/rejuvenation/modernization and technical upgradation of the coir industry. This scheme will employ women and economically weaker people in special rural areas.

For this scheme, the Central Government has appointed a nodal agency at the national level through the Ministry of MSME. Choir boards have been established by this agency in every state. This coir entrepreneur scheme will be implemented by the State Coir Board.

Coir Udyami Scheme Eligibility Criteria:

  • The applicant must be a permanent resident of India for this scheme.
  • For this scheme, the minimum age of the applicant should be 18.
  • There is never any limit on the annual income of the applicant for this scheme.
  • Only coir fiber or yarn producers can take advantage of this scheme.
  • The categories of applicants for this scheme are as follows.
  1. Person.
  2. company.
  3. self-help association.
  4. NGO.
  5. Society or institution registered under Act 1860.
  6. production cooperatives.
  7. joint liability group
  8. Charitable Trust Group
  9. The project cost of this scheme also includes building and machinery.
  10. Working capital is also included in the project cost of this scheme but no subsidy will be given on this working capital. However, the bank will provide a loan against this working capital.
  • Working capital in this scheme will not exceed 25% of the project cost.
  • If the entrepreneur already has a workshed available, then he will get the benefit of this scheme only for machinery.
  • The beneficiary entrepreneur of this scheme will have to enter into an agreement with the Coir Board on the following terms and conditions.

  2. All the machinery/equipment is used in running the coir industry.
  3. Coir industry will not be transferred without the permission of the Coir Board.
  4. This industry will not be closed without the permission of the Coir Board.
  5. is mandatory for the industry to have insurance coverage above the grant amount of the Coir Board.
  6. The entrepreneur will make his coir industry available for inspection by the Coir Board officials at any time.
  7. It is mandatory to get a beneficiary entrepreneur and operate the industry for at least one year.
  8. The entrepreneur needs to follow the instructions issued from time to time by the Central and State Governments.
  9. If the conditions set out above are not followed, the government will recover the grant amount along with interest.

Who is ineligible for the Coir Entrepreneur Scheme?

  • Who has already taken advantage of any government grant for their industry?
  • For this scheme, if any entrepreneur has increased the price of building or machinery in the project cost, then the Coir Board will reject his application.
  • The entrepreneur has not followed the Coir Board conditions.
