In Maharashtra state, the Maharashtra Government has launched the “Gyanjyoti Savitribai Phule Aadhaar Yojana” to provide financial assistance to the students of the OBC category, Free Tribe caste (Vimukt Jan Jati), Nomadic caste (Ghumti Jan Jati), especially Bahujan class. The government provides an Rs. 60000/- scholarship to students pursuing higher education through the “Gyanjyoti Savitribai Phule Yojana”.

Under this Gnyanjyoti Savitribai Phule Aadhaar Yojana, scholarships up to Rs 60,000 per year will be provided to eligible beneficiary students.

What is Gnyanjyoti Savitribai Phule Yojana?

To provide financial assistance and incentives to the students of OBC(other backward Classes) cast. Which includes backward caste and nomadic caste (including the nomadic caste who have availed the benefit of Pandit Din Dayal Upadhyay Swayam Yojana) of the state of Maharashtra, for those who are pursuing higher education.

The Maharashtra State Government has launched the Gyan Jyoti Savitribai Phule Aadhaar Scheme. This scheme is also called Gnyanjyoti Savitribai Phule Yojana.

Under this scheme, eligible students will be provided scholarships up to Rs. 60000 per year.

The State Government has approved this scheme in the Government House on 13/12/2023. Under this, 600 students per district in the state will be given scholarships to 21600 students in the entire state through this Gnyanjyoti Savitribai Phule Yojana.

Gnyanjyoti Savitribai Phule Yojana Scholarship Eligibility:

  1. Residency in Maharashtra State is Must: For this scheme, the student must be a permanent resident of Maharashtra state.
  2. Eligible for Hostel Admission: The student must be eligible for hostel admission.
  3. Annual Income below 2.5 Lakh: The annual income of the student’s family should be less than Rs 2.5 lakh.
  4. Not Belongs from City/District/Taluka of Education Institution: The student should not be a resident of the city, district, or taluka in which the educational institution has been admitted.
  5. Must Belong to the OBC category: The student must belong to the OBC category, backward class, Vimukt Jaan caste, Ghumti Jaan caste, or special backward caste. He should have proof of this.
  6. Must-Have an Account in Nationalized Bank: The student must have an account in a nationalized bank and the account must be linked to the student’s Aadhar card.
Gnyanjyoti Savitribai Phule Yojana Scholarship Educational Eligibility:
  1. Admission to Higher Education must be: The student must have entered higher education after passing the 12th class.
  2. Must have obtained a minimum of 60% marks.: For admission to non-professional courses, a minimum of 60% marks must be obtained.
  3. 75% attendance is compulsory: The student must have 75% attendance in the university or college.
  4. Should be passed every year: The benefit of this scholarship scheme will be available until the completion of education but the student must pass every year.
Which students are ineligible for the Gnyanjyoti Savitribai Phule Yojana scholarship?
  1. Works During His Studies: If a student works during his education then he is ineligible for this scheme.
  2. Do Business During Your Education: If a student does business on his own during his education, he cannot get the benefit of this scheme.
  3. Students who are over 30 years of age: The benefit of this scheme will be available every year during the period of education i.e. for 5 to 6 years only. If the age of the student is more than 30 years then he is ineligible for this scheme.
  4. Students who live in government hostels for free: If a student is staying in any hostel for free by availing the benefits of other education schemes then that student is ineligible for this scheme.
  5. The student who does not have 75% attendance: A student whose attendance in the university is less than 75% cannot avail of the benefit of this scheme.

  1. Disabled Students Reservation: Under this scheme, a 4% parallel reservation for disabled students or the reservation prescribed by the government from time to time will be given. The passing mark for a disabled student is 50%.

Gnyanjyoti Savitribai Phule Yojana Grant/Scholarship Distribution:

According to this scheme, the Maharashtra government provides scholarships in the form of food, accommodation, and subsistence allowance to OBC students for higher education. This scholarship will be deposited in the bank account of the eligible beneficiary student through DBT (direct beneficiary transfer).

This scholarship/allowance will be given to the beneficiary student in four phases. We have presented this information below.

Gnyanjyoti Savitribai Phule Scheme Implementation:
  1. The responsibility of implementing this scheme will be with the hostel house owner of the concerned district.
  2. The responsibility of presenting the final list of beneficiary students for this scheme will be of the Director and Other Backward Bahujan Directorate, Pune.
  3. The student is obliged to pay the fee for each session within 15 days.
  4. The benefit of this scheme is limited to the student only for the duration of the concerned course. Example: If a student is doing an engineering course then the benefit will be available only for 4 years.
  5. If a student is availing the benefit of the scheme by giving wrong material or wrong documents or wrong information and if the misuse is known or found guilty, then that student may be punished and the amount of benefit from that student will be deducted along with 12% interest. The government will recover.
  6. Eligible students of Sadar Yojana are required to pass every year. If the student passes ATKT (allowed to keep terms), then the student who passes ATKT (allowed to keep terms) once will get the benefit but if he passes ATKT again. So he will not get the benefit of this scheme.
