Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana|pm Jan dhan yojana: This scheme was announced by the Honorable Prime Minister of our country Narendra Modi on 15 August 2023. This scheme was started on 28th August 2014 in every state of the country.

The main objective of this scheme is to provide free bank accounts to all rural and urban families in India and to provide access to banking facilities.

The objective of Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana:

  1. Free Bank Account: To provide free bank accounts to every citizen of India.
  2. Banking Facility: Providing banking facilities to the poor and rural families of the country.
  3. Promote Banking Awareness: To bring banking literacy to the country.
  4. Insurance Facility: Providing facilities like insurance, remittance, and pension credit cards.
  5. Poor Family Connected to Banking: To include all the poor families of the country in the financial system.

Benefits of Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana:

  1. Free of Cost: A basic savings account will be opened free of cost in a government bank.

 2. No Minimum Charges: There will be no need to maintain a minimum balance in this bank account.

3. Get Interest: You will get interest on the amount deposited in this Jan Dhan account.

4. Provide Debit Card: The PMJDY account holder will be provided a debit card from the bank.

5. Insurance Cover up to 2 lakh: Free insurance covers up to Rs 1 lakh (Rs 2 lakh for accounts opened after 28.08.2018) will be given with PMJDY Debit Card.

6. Overdraft facility: Overdraft up to Rs.10000/- is available in this PMJDY account.

7. Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) facility: This Jan Dhan account is eligible for Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), PM Jeevan Jyoti Yojana, PM Suraksha Bima Yojana, Atal Paysaniv Yojana, and Mudra Yojana.

Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana Eligibility:
  1. Must be a permanent resident of India. 

2. The applicant must be 18 years of age. 

3. The applicant must have an Aadhar Card and Ration Card. 

Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana Required Documents:
  1. Aadhar card.

2. Ration card.

3. Two passport-size color photographs.

4. Mobile number.

The application process of Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana:

  1. Visit Bank: First, the applicant has to go to his nearest government bank.

2. Get the Application Form: You have to go to the bank friend there and get the application form.

3. Form Fill up: In that form, you have to fill in all the information asked including your full name, father’s or husband’s name, date of birth, permanent resident address, Aadhar card number, phone, or mobile number.

4. Past Photo: After filling in all the information in that form, your photo has to be pasted on the form.

5. Sign on Application: You have to read that form carefully and put your signature at the end of the form.

6. Attach Necessary Documents: Necessary documents have to be attached to that form and submitted to the concerned officer of the bank.

7. Get a Bank Passbook & Debit Card: The concerned officer will open your PMJDY Jan Dhan account after verifying the form and documents. 8. After that the bank will provide you the passbook and debit card (ATM card) of your account.

Progress status of Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana till 2023:

By 2022, the Government of India has opened 51 crore bank accounts through this Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana. This scheme has been extended to all the states, cities, and small villages of the country.

According to this scheme, 1,80,96,130 Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Kahte were opened in a week, this has been a world record in the world.

Rs 208855 crore has been transferred through this Jan Dhan scheme. All 51 crore families in the country have got the benefit of this scheme. This Modi government is a historic victory.
