Indian women are still victims of undernutrition and malnutrition. In our country, every third woman is malnourished and every second woman is anemic. When this malnourished woman gives birth to her child, the weight of that child is very low and weak. Some women work for nine months even during pregnancy due to the weak economic status of their family. Keeping this problem in mind, the Government of India has started the Pradhanmantri Matru Vandana Yojana(PMMVY).

For many women, their bodies do not allow them to work immediately after delivery, yet they go to work. Some women are unable to breastfeed their children.

These weak women do not even get time to rest. To overcome these problems of women, the government has started the Indian women are still victims of undernutrition and malnutrition.

Keeping this problem in mind, the Government of India has started the Pradhanmantri Matru Vandana Yojana(PMMVY). This scheme has been implemented from 01.01.2017.

Pradhanmantri Matru Vandana Yojana Benefits:

According to this scheme, a pregnant woman will get Rs. 5000/- cash amount will be provided. A woman will get the benefit of this scheme for the birth of two live children.

For the first child Rs. 5000/- cash in two installments and for the second child during pregnancy Rs. Rs.6000/- cash will be provided.

Pradhanmantri Matru Vandana Yojana Objectives:

1.To provide labor compensation financial assistance to the poor and laboring poor pregnant women of the country.

02. After the second delivery, these women should be given rest and financial help to take care of the baby.

03. The scheme will encourage pregnant women and lactating mothers to adopt behaviors that improve their health.

04. If this is the second time of the woman and the second child is a girl then this scheme has been started to encourage her to nurture the girl child positively.

05. The government launched this scheme to improve the male-female sex ratio in the country and to encourage prevention of female infanticide.

Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana Eligibility:

01. The woman should belong to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe.

02. Partially or fully disabled women are eligible for this scheme.

03. Women must be BPL ration card holder.

04. Women beneficiaries of Ayushman Bharat or Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana are eligible for this scheme.

05. Inshram Card Holder Women are eligible for this scheme.

06. Farmer women beneficiaries of Kisan Samman Nidhi are eligible for the scheme.

07. MNREGA Shram Card Holder Women are eligible for this scheme.

Pradhan Matru Matru Vandana Yojana uneligibility Criteria:

1. Pregnant women working in central government sector are not eligible for this scheme.

2. Women working in State Govt Sector are not eligible for this scheme.

3. Women participating in public sector activities or working women are ineligible for this scheme.

Advantages of Pradhan Mantri Matri Vandan Yojana:

1.The first surviving children of the beneficiary woman will get the benefit of this scheme.

2. If the second child of the beneficiary woman is a girl, the benefit amount for the first child is Rs. 5000/- within two weeks.

3. After one week of birth of the child, the benefit for the second child will be Rs.6000/-.

4. After having second child, registration is required at your nearest Anganwadi Centre.

Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana Application Process:

To apply for this scheme, you have to go to your nearest Anganwadi and register within 150 days. After that, the application form has to be taken from the concerned officer. All the information asked in that form has to be filled in properly.

After that, you have to paste your passport-size photograph into that form and sign it. After that, the necessary documents mentioned above have to be submitted to the Anganwadi Center.

After that, the potential Anganwadi worker will submit that application to the Women and Child Welfare Office of her district.

The concerned officer of the district office will verify the application and documents and give his approval. Similarly, the application process for Pradhan Mantri Matru vandana Yojana will be completed.
